Citreomontanin
Application Notes
Citreomontanin is an orange polyene 2-pyrone mycotoxin first isolated from Penicillium pedemontanum by researchers from Muséum nationale d'Histoire naturelle, France in 1980. Citreomontanin is the putative biosynthetic precursor of citreoviridin, a mycotoxin with potent neurotoxic effects which inhibits mitochondrial ATPase and is a causative agent of cardiac beriberi. The inherent biological activity of citreomontanin has not been widely investigated.
