Application Notes

Territrem C is an α-pyrone tremorgenic metabolite first reported by Ling and coworkers from the National Taiwan University, Taiwan, in 1984 from Aspergillus terreus. Following intraperitoneal treatment of mice, territrem C leads to the onset of tremors in the hind limbs within 10 minutes, induced by slightly lower median doses than territrem A or B. The territrems are potent inhibitors of eel acetylcholinesterase, and it is believed they act at the presynaptic site of motor nerves, potentiating the release of acetylcholine.
