Avilamycin A
Application Notes
Avilamycin A is a chlorine-containing polysaccharide antibiotic produced by Streptomyces viridochromogenes. Avilamycin is active against Gram-positive bacteria and is used as a growth promotant and for prevention of necrotic enteritis in animals. Avilamycin binds to the 30S ribosome and resistance is conferred by rRNA methyl transferases. Avilamycin A is a major analogue in the commercial product Surmax™.
