Tuliposide A
Application Notes
Tuliposide A is a sugar ester from the common tulip, composed of D-Glc and 4-hydroxy-2-methylenebutanoyl and discovered by Tschesche and colleagues in 1988. Tuliposide A exhibits antibiotic activity. More recently, tuliposide A has been shown to be a prodrug, undergoing hydrolysis with aglycone lactonisation mediated by an in situ tuliposide-converting enzyme to form tulipin A which has antifungal, insecticidal and antifungal properties properties. Tuliposide is allergenic to humans, causing contact dermatitis.
