Application Notes
Dihydro-6-hydroxypenicillic acid is an equilibrium mixture of a straight chain butenolide and a cyclic butyrolactone produced by various Trichocomaceae. Dihydro-6-hydroxypenicillic acid has antiviral activity, inhibiting influenza A/WSN/ 33 virus with IC50 68.5 µM. Dihydro-6-hydroxypenicillic acid is reported to be a nerve growth factor activator and has been patented as an antifouling agent for marine coatings.
