Application Notes

Geministatin A is a recently described depside antibiotic isolated from the fungus Austroacremonium gemini recovered from rotting wood in the wet tropics of northern Australia by Piggott, Chooi and collaborators, Australia in 2025. Geminstatin A is an analogue of aquastatin A with Δ15,16 and Δ18,19 double bonds which confer superior bioactivity. Geministatin A exhibits strong activity against B. subtilis and S. aureus antibiotic-susceptible and resistant strains with no significant mammalian cytotoxicity.
