Application Notes

Cytosporone B is a polyketide first isolated from two undescribed fungal strains belonging to the genera Cytospora and Diaporthe by Clardy and collaborators at Cornell University and Wyeth Research, USA in 2000. Cytosporone B has antitumor activity, specifically binding to the ligand-binding domain of the nuclear orphan receptor Nur77. Cytopsorone B is also active against influenza A virus and as a biological preservative to control citrus decay.
