Shearinine B
Application Notes
Shearinine B is an indole triterpene first isolated from the sclerotia of a Pencillium sp. by Gloer and colleagues, USDA, Illinois in 1995. Shearinine B exhibits potent antiinsectan activity in dietary assays of the corn earworm Helicoverpa zea and the dried-fruit beetle Carpophilus hemipteru. Shearinine B causes significant mortality in the fall army worm Spodoptera fujiperda when exposed to treated leaf discs. Shearinine B was patented in 1996.
