Application Notes

4-Methylthiocanthin-6-one is a member of the canthin-6-one family isolated from Pentaceras australis Hook and its structure identified by Nelson and Price, CSIRO, Australia in 1952. Members of the family have been shown to bind to the benzodiazepine receptors of rat brain, to inhibit cAMP and to have anti-inflammatory activity and antimicrobial activity against Gram positive organisms and mycobacteria.
