Application Notes

4-Hydroxyscytalone was first isolated from the rice blast pathogen, Pyricularia oryzae, reported by Iwasaki and coworkers, University of Tokyo, in 1973. The core of 4-hydroxyscytalone consists of a trihydroxy-dihydronaphthalenone. 4-Hydroxyscytalone is an intermediate in the melanin biosynthetic pathway and has noticeable activity against the plant nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus.
