Application Notes
2-Furoic acid is isolated from the roots of the common bean, Phaseolus vulgaris, as well as a range of fungi and bacteria. 2-Furoic acid is used in the food industry as a preservative and flavoring agent. 2-Furoic acid exhibits hypolipidemic activity and is thought to act as an allelochemical in plants. 2-Furoic acid may be used as a carbon source for the growth of Pseudomonads.
