Application Notes

N,N'-bis(2,3-Dihydroxybenzoyl)-O-L-seryl-L- dehydroalanine is a minor analogue of enterobacterin formed by ring opening and cleavage of a N,N'-bis(2,3-Dihydroxybenzoyl)-L-serine followed by the dehydration of the final serine to a dehydroalanine. Typically N,N'-bis(2,3-Dihydroxybenzoyl)-O-L-seryl-L-dehydroalanine is formed as part of an enterobactin complex observed in Streptomyces strains. N,N'-bis(2,3-Dihydroxybenzoyl)-O-L-seryl-L-dehydroalanine and the other ring opened hydrolysis products have received little attention as siderophores.
