Application Notes

Aureoquinone is a monomeric naphthoquinone originally isolated from the fruiting body of Crepidotus sp. by Berg and colleagues at Hans-Knöll Institute for Natural Products Research, Germany in 2000. Aureoquinone significantly inhibits the adhesion of Candida albicans to both epithelial and endothelial cells in a dose dependent manner and also reduces the release of secreted aspartic proteinase. Aurequinone shares a biosynthetic link with the talcarpones.
