Application Notes

Xanthoxylin is a phenolic acetophenone that has been isolated from several species of plants, including Zanthoxylum and Artemisia brevifolia. Xanthoxylin and its derivatives have demonstrated antispasmodic activity against acetylcholine‐induced contraction of the guinea pig ileum. Xanthoxylin exhibits broad spectrum antifungal activity against Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton rubrum, Cryptococcus neoformans and Aspergillus fumigatus.
