Application Notes

Pulvinic acid dilactone is produced by various lichens and some fungi. Pulvinic acid-related pigments are considered to play an important role in protection of lichens from UV radiation and are reported to display broad biological activity against bacteria, fungi, plants and viruses. Pulvinic acid dilactone has inotropic effects, but is significantly less potent than ouabain. Semi-synthetic pulvinic acid dilactone derivatives have been extensively studied for their antimicrobial activity.
