Application Notes

Podosporin A is a sesquiterpene quinone produced by coprophilous fungi, including Podospora decipiens, first reported by Gloer and colleagues at University of Iowa, USA in 1988. Podosporin A decreases the growth rate of the fungi Sodaria fimicola and Ascobolus furfuraceus by 50% at 25 and 10 µg/mL, respectively. Podosporin A is active against Gram-positive bacteria and Candida albicans, but not Aspergillus flavus.
