Application Notes
Carbazomycin C is a minor analogue of a family of carbazoles initially isolated from Streptomyces ehimense reported by researchers at Hiroshima University in 1987. Carbazomycin C and analogues D to F were identified in a scaled and optimised fermentation of the same strain that produced carbazomycins A and B in 1980. Carbazomycin C possesses weak antibacterial and antifungal activity and has been identified as an inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase and a free radical scavenger.
